Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Ryan Morais will have surgery next week to repair a torn shoulder labrum. Morais was injured on the opening lap of his heat race at Las Vegas on Saturday night.

The 26-year-old rider rode through the pain on Saturday to finish sixth in the East/West Shootout. He was riding the momentum of a great supercross lites season where he never finished outside of the top-five, earning five second place finishes and seven total podiums.

“Ryan has done a really good job for us this year,” said Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki Team Manager Mitch Payton. “It is a shame he got hurt, because we were expecting him to be on the podium a lot during the motocross season. We hope Ryan can get back as soon as possible so he can continue to be up front at the races.”

The Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki team is set to have four riders on track at the AMA Lucas Oil Motocross Championships season opener at Glen Helen Raceway. South African Tyla Rattray will join 2009 AMA Supercross Lites East Coast Champion Christophe Pourcel, Austin Stroupe and Jake Weimer as the team looks to claim its fifth straight AMA Motocross Lites title.
