Laconi Suffers Serious Injuries In Kyalami

DFX Ducati’s Regis Laconi has been placed in a medically induced coma by doctors at the Sunninghill Hospital in Johannesburg, South Africa, the Frenchman having crashed in this morning’s free practice session at the Kyalami circuit.Laconi crashed on his first lap of practice in the turn 11-12 area with his head making hard contact with the gravel as he tumbled at high speed. Laconi is suspected to have fractured his cervical vertebrae and has been put into a coma while doctors monitor his progress.World Superbike promoters Infront Sports says that Laconi is on the “danger list” and that he is slated to undergo surgery with two plates being inserted to support his vertebral column. A press release issued by his team says that Laconi has seemingly not suffered any neurological trauma and is able to move his limbs.
