Lafferty Hot At Cajun Classic

| April 6, 2009

KTM’s Mike Lafferty made it two wins in a row after dropping the fewest amount of points at the Cajun Classic Enduro, the fourth round of the AMA/Rekluse National Enduro Series in Forest Hill, Louisiana, April 5. Lafferty was quickest in fourth of the six special test and finished off the enduro with 33.21 points on his scorecard. It was just enough to beat fellow KTM rider Brad Bakken, who dropped 33.44 points.

“I had a good ride today,” Lafferty said after all was said and done. “We had the bike dialed in and I just tried to be consistent.”

Bakken, who also competes in the GNCC series, took advantage of the faster-than-usual trails that covered about 70 miles. “I have been riding the GNCCs and this was a lot like them,” he said.

Third place went to defending champion Russell Bobbitt who dropped 34 points. “I just had some problems today,” the KTM rider said. “I fell a few times and then had some brake problems.”

Still, Bobbitt maintains the series points lead by five over Lafferty. Both Bobbitt and Lafferty have two wins apiece.

Fourth overall went to Am-Pro Yamaha’s Jason Raines, while KTM’s Cole Kirkpatrick rounded out the top five overall.
