BROOKLYN, NY, JAN 19: MotoGP world champion Valentino Rossi has added Monster Energy to his sponsor portfolio by signing a two-year worth a reported $3.3 million, according to the website sportsbusiness.com. The deal could increase by another $660,000 if Rossi successfully defends his 2008 World Championship, the website reported, adding that a Monster-Rossi accessory range has been released, with hat and helmet adorned with the three-scratch “M” logo. Rossi’s gain is John Hopkins’s loss. The sportsbusiness.com report said that Monster had moved their endorsement from Hopkins, who was put out of work when Kawasaki withdrew from MotoGP. Hopkins has yet to find a ride for 2009. A formal announcement is expected this week
