Although the following press release from Ben Thompson’s publicist only says that Thompson will be racing “a new brand of motorcycle,” that brand is reportedly Aprilia with an official announcement to follow…

December 17,2008 (Santa Cruz, CA)- The Syndicate announced today that AMA Superbike Series regular, Ben Thompson, has renewed his contract with KWS Motorsports to compete in the new Daytona Sportbike class.

The young rider from Anchorage, Alaska recently completed his first full AMA season with the Millennium Technologies sponsored KWS team.

“Both the team and I learned a lot last year and had some really good races. We all wanted to continue and carry that momentum into next season,” said Thompson. “The team manager, Chip Spalding and Murph (The Syndicate’s Michael Murphy) have been talking since mid season last year about re-signing me. The way this off-season has been going, with teams and manufacturers pulling out, I was wondering if I was going to be sitting home next season. Now, I’m continuing with Millennium/KWS–racing a new brand of motorcycle, in a new class, under the lights at the Daytona 200. I can’t wait!”

“Ben is extraordinarily talented. He has a great work ethic and rides the bike to 100% of its capability every time he gets on it. From the beginning we knew we wanted to work with Ben for more than one year,” said KWS Team Manager Chip Spalding. “We are extremely excited to have Ben back!”
