Just as he had done during the National Motocross Series, James Stewart finished the Bercy weekend with a perfect record to claim the coveted title of King of Bercy.
In the beautiful Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy, for the 26th running of the Bercy-Paris Supercross, Stewart claimed 18 race wins over three nights to easily top all scorers on his San Manuel Band of Mission Indians/L&M Racing Yamaha.
Finishing second in the overall points and second on each day was KTM’s Justin Brayton, who turned in a surprisingly strong performance. Brayton, who will be riding the Lites division in AMA Supercross, was riding a 450 at Bercy and he looked impressive throughout the weekend.
Geico Powersports Honda’s Kevin Windham got progressively better with each race and after some great battles with Bud Kawasaki’s David Vuillemin, ended the night and the weekend in third overall.
Vuillemin was fourth overall for the event, while another Frenchman, Marvin Musquin, was fifth.
Spike Energy/JGRMX/Yamaha’s Josh Grant crashed with French Honda rider Ben Coisy and once he got going again, crashed again over a double jump. He finally called it a night and watched from the stands.
In the Team Challenge, the American squad easily defeated the French.
