Smage Prevails

| August 26, 2008

Eighteen year old Sherco rider Patrick Smage from Elkhorn, Wisconsin claimed his second AMA Pro title in as many years this past weekend at the AMA/NATC Trials Nationals in Duluth, Minnesota. In winning 4 of the 6 round series and finishing second in the other two – Smage handled the pressure of defending his National crown with relative ease.

Coming in second was Cody Webb (Sherco) from Wastonsville, California. Webb was the only Pro to stop Smage all year, winnning the two rounds Smage didn’t. Georgia’s Will Ibsen (Gas Gas) improved on his 4th place finish last year, winding up 3rd for the 2008 campaign. Ibsen came in second in the final round on Sunday. Colorado trials/EnduroCross rider Keith Wineland (Beta) from Colorado finished in 4th in the 2008 NATC series and Chris Florin (Gas Gas) from Florida rounded out the top 5. The 2009 series locations will be determined later this fall.
