Kawasaki 650 To Make Springfield Debut

Can a competitive dirt tracker be built for under $6000? Famed dirt track tuner Bill Werner thinks so. The man behind the success of Jay Springsteen and Scott Parker will send out road racer turned dirt track Jesse Janish on this Kawasaki Ninja 650R flat-tracker in Monday’s Springfield Mile, the fourth round of AMA Ford Quality Checked Flat Track Championship.

The frame is a stock unit that Werner modified and the entire project was completed in a few months with eBay being a major contributor, Werner said in an e-mail message.

Werner plans to campaign the Kawasaki in the new twins class, which will run in conjunction with selected Grand National Twins Championship events. He’s using the Springfield Mile to help with component evaluation.
