Regardless of what you’ve heard, seen or believe about Larry Brooks and his sudden departure as team manager of San Manuel L&M Racing last year, or anything that his previous sponsored rider, James Stewart, may have or had not to do with it, the fact is, Brooks has moved on with his life.
Last week he emerged from almost a year of seclusion when Feld Motorsports, the promoter of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM Championship, series, hosted its annual pre-season press conference at Angel Stadium. After a short conversation with him, you can tall that Brooks is obviously settled into a very comfortable relationship with his new business partner Jeremy McGrath in his new role as race-team manager for the new Supercross.com Honda Racing team.
There’s no doubt Brooks has had to deal with his fair share of hard-to-deal-with riders over his long career as a team manager, which include stints with KTM, McGrath Racing and most recently San Manuel Yamaha, and he seems very relieved that his current rider is Andrew Short, one of the most mild-mannered, easy-going and appreciative riders on the paddock today. All seems good for Larry Brooks again, and he is anxious to leave some of his troubled past behind him and begin a new adventure with a new gig.
