Supercross Season Kicks Off In Toronto

TORONTO, CANADA, DEC 1: Practice got under way today in Toronto’s Rogers Centre for the opening round of the 2006-2007 Amp’d Mobile World Supercross GP Series, which will take place tomorrow night.

Today’s practice was pretty low key, since the real test will be tomorrow afternoon when the practice laps will count towards a rider’s chances at making the program. To no one’s surprise, James Stewart, Ricky Carmichael and Chad Reed (who is making his first race with his new team, L&M Racing), turned the quickest times. However, Carmichael’s Makita Suzuki teammate Ivan Tedesco, Travis Preston, who was making his first race with the Sobe/Samsung Mobile Honda team, and Stewart’s Kawasaki teammate, Timmy Ferry, were all fast, as well.

Other riders sporting new rides in Toronto included Michael Byrne (WBR/Rockstar Suzuki), Jeff Gibson (Cernics Kawasaki), Jason Thomas (Butler Brothers Racing), Martin Davalos (KTM), and Jiri Dostal (Team Solitaire).

Former factory Yamaha rider Heath Voss was riding as a privateer with the help of Machine Racing.
