Patterson Makes the Most of the Mud

The following is from the WMA…

The WMA Hitachi AMA/WMA National Motocross Championship presented by Kawasaki, resumed this weekend at the Broome-Tioga National, in Binghamton, NY with another trial in the championship – a one moto format due to rain. Moto XXX/Honda of Houston rider Jessica Patterson earned another win and now sits with a comfortable 23-point lead in going into the final round of the pro women’s championship.

The rain was steady during the WMA pro practice and continued through the rest of the day and evening. Concerned about the condition of the National track and for the safety of the riders, AMA Pro Racing made the call for the WMA to run a one moto format.

Toyota Motocross USA sponsored racer Alisa Nix picked up the Sick Racing holeshot followed by Richardson’s RV’s Tarah Gieger, Patterson, Honda rider Jessye Davis, Zip TY Racing’s Sherri Cruse, and Richardson’s RV’s Sarah Whitmore. The two Yamaha riders (Nix and Gieger) traded the lead a few times, both crashing in the slick conditions. Meanwhile Patterson was steadily making gains and took over the lead when both Nix and Gieger crashed. Gieger made a strong charge for first near the end of the moto but couldn’t quite pass Patterson. Gieger took second place, with Whitmore in third, Nix in fourth, and Canadian Heidi Cooke (Honda) in fifth.

Highlights from the WMA pro race will be included in AMA Pro Racing’s Motocross Lites Show airing Monday, August 28th, 5:00pm EST on OLN.

WMA is sponsored by: Hitachi, Kawasaki, Sick Racing, Z1R Helmets, Honda, Scott USA, VP Fuels, Dunlop Tires, Alpinestars, Thor, Northgate Auto and Pro Clean.
