John Dowd to Race His First GNCC This Weekend

Press Release | June 21, 2006

Fresh off his amazing 6th place finish at Southwick, John Dowd has announced that he will be racing the GNCC Parts Unlimited Wisp this coming weekend, June 24 & 25, in McHenry, Maryland. Dowdy will also be sponsored for this event by the Maxxis EnduroCross, the Toughest Indoor Off-Road race in America held inside the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas.

“The promoters of EnduroCross have been supporters of mine through out the years and it’s a big help for them to support my race efforts this year, especially at my first GNCC event,” affirmed Dowd, who last year officially retired after nearly 20 years of racing motocross. “My plans are to race a few selected races this year and I definitely plan on racing the Maxxis EnduroCross at the end of the year.

John Dowd, who finished second overall at the 2005 Maxxis EnduroCross proved that his motocross skills cross over very well to the demands of off-road racing. “It was really no surprise to see John do so well at EnduroCross,” claims Eric Peronnard, co-promoter of the event. “A lot of the top motocrossers have a strong background in woods or trails riding. Combine that with their motocross skills and it makes for a perfect combination to race off-road.”
