Jarrett Dominates Moose Run

The Moose Run lived up to its reputation as “America’s toughest race,” sending most competitors home prematurely due to exhaustion or sheer frustration. But it was just another day’s work for two-time OMA Champion Jimmy Jarrett. After chasing young rival Justin Williamson for most of the 105-mile race in the woods around Fenton, Illinois, June 4, Jarrett sped away and took a clear-cut triumph after more than five hours of racing on his Andrews Cycles/Maxxis/Moose-sponsored Suzuki RM250.

“On the last lap, I got a good run at [Williamson] on a road and passed him and put my head down and kept on charging all the way to the end,” Jarrett said.

“I didn’t have my bike geared up as much as Jimmy did,” Williamson said.

Getting stuck shortly after that sealed second for the Williamsonracing.com Yamaha YZ250 pilot.

Jarrett extended his points lead in the Parts Unlimited Off-Road Motorcycle and ATV National Series even farther with his fourth win in five rounds to date, while Williamson tightened his grip on second.

Jason Thomas claimed third for the day despite running most of the race with a broken exhaust pipe on his Fun Mart Cycles/Maxxis/Moose Honda CR250R. It was his second podium appearance in his first year on the OMA circuit.

Adam Bonneur and Tim Taber rounded out the top five.
