It’s Carr at Du Quoin

| October 3, 2005
Ford Quality Checked Certified Pre-owned Racing’s Chris Carr finished off another of his championship-winning campaign in fine style as the AMA Ford Quality Checked Flat Track Championship Series finished off the 2005 season the Du Quoin State Fairgrounds, on October 1. In doing so, Carr earned his first career GNC victory on the “Magic Mile.”

Carr led the 18-rider field into turn one and battled near the front of a five-rider draft that included Screamin’ Eagle Harley-Davidson’s Rich King, Moroney’s Harley-Davidson and Honda/Content Control’s Bryan Smith, KK Supply/Roeder Harley-Davidson/Schaeffer’s Harley-Davidson’s Geo Roeder and Mid-America Harley-Davidson/Jones Powersports’ Kenny Coolbeth. Carr led King off the last corner and stayed ahead to the checkered flag, collecting his fourth win of the season. Smith edged Coolbeth for the last podium position.

Lima Harley-Davidson/Jeff Eibling/Widman Motorcycle Sales’ Scott Stump just edged defending Harley-Davidson Sportster Performance Series Champion Chris Hart at the finish line to win the 12-lap HDSP main and steal away the title from Hart. It was Stump’s second career Sportster championship, the first coming all the way back in 1994. Harley-Davidson and Honda/Content Control’s Bryan Smith won the 505cc Expert Support race.
