San Francisco SX Update

| January 29, 2005

Practice for round four of the THQ/AMA Supercross Series went smooth today at SBC Park in San Francisco. The anticipated rain never came, and the race that many thought would be muddy isn’t going to be. Yesterday, Dirt Wurx did an excellent job of keeping the track covered, and dry, making for great racing come this evening.

In the 125cc class Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Ivan Tedesco cut the fastest lap time, clocking a best time of 49.713 seconds. Team Makita Suzuki’s Broc Hepler was second, with a time of 49.737 seconds, and Amsoil/Chaparral/Honda’s Billy Laninovich was third, with a time of 49.950 seconds.

In the 250cc class, Team Makita Suzuki’s Ricky Carmichael bested everyone with a time of 47.435 seconds. Team Yamaha’s Chad Reed stayed close to Carmichael with a 47.986-second best lap. In third was Team Yamaha’s David Vuillemin, with a time of 48.071 seconds. And as for last week’s third place finisher, Team Amsoil/Chaparral/Honda’s Kevin Windham, he was seventh fastest with a time of 49.318 seconds.

Tonight the show is set to begin as scheduled with Carmichael looking for his third consecutive win of the season. While Reed, Windham and the rest of the field will be looking to put an end to the Suzuki rider’s win streak.

The 125cc class will be one to watch, as well. Tedesco is beginning to pick up momentum while Hepler is looking to come back after crashing out at the last round at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, California.
