Grand National Cross Country Champion Rodney Smith suffered a broken leg while competing in a local motocross race near his home in Northern California. In the last turn of the second moto, Smith caught his foot in a rut and broke the tibia bone in his lower leg.

It now appears that Smith will miss the first three rounds of the GNCC Series.
