Skip Van Leeuwen ST Returns to Del Mar Weekend

Gene Romero’s West Coast Flat Track Series will be presenting a special short track double header, including the traditional Skip Van Leeuwen Short Track, at the Del Mar Fairgrounds Hores Arena in Del Mar, California, on October 16, during the Del Mar Motorcycle Weekend.

Saturday will be action-packed with the two stand-alone events kicking off with a vintage short track event that will start in the morning and conclude in the early afternoon. A full line-up of vintage classes will be offered for this traditional event.

Upon completion of the Vintage races, preparation of the track will take place prior to the evening’s Skip Van Leeuwen/Tom Cates Memorial Short Track Classic presentedby by Skip Van Leeuwen Enterprises, K & N Filters, Motorcycle Industry Council, EMGO and Progressive Suspension. A bonus of $3000 has been added to the K&N Open Class A Main event to make to make a total purse of $7300.

The short track events are part of the Del Mar Motorcycle Weekend that also includes the Clear Channel Entertainment-hosted Concours d’ Elegance. The short track events will be followed by a round of the AMA Supermoto Championship Series on Sunday, October 17.

Vintage Short Track – Saturday, October 16th
Registration: 7–9 a.m.
Practice: 9 a.m.
First Race: 9:45 a.m.

West Coast Flat Track Series – Saturday Night, October 16th
Registration: 2–4 p.m.
Practice: 4 a.m.
First Race: 6:45 p.m.
