Hatch Wins Missouri National Enduro
Steve Hatch was the big winner at the AMA/FMF National Enduro Series in Park Hills, Missouri, May 23. Hatch, on the Throttlehead.com/Kawasaki Team Green KX250, fought it out all day with Am-Pro Yamaha rider Randy Hawkins and eventually came out on top, edging out Hawkins by just one point. Hatch was consistently a little quicker at the tie-breakers than Hawkins, and he ended up dropping just five points to Hawkins’ six.
Finishing third overall was series points leader David Lykke on the factory-backed KTM. Lykke dropped 10 points on the day. Yamaha-mounted Steve Leivan finished fourth overall, while KTM rider Rich Lafferty rounded out the top five.
Sixth place went to Honda rider Matt Stavish, followed by KTM-mounted Billy Russell and Husqvarna’s Fred Hoess, who had a tough day, a lot of which had to do with running into a deer on the trail. Suzuki rider Wally Palmer and Kawasaki pilot Nolan Knight rounded out the top 10 overall.
Lykke, with two wins under his belt, still leads the series with 127 points, followed by Hawkins with 116, Hatch with 110, and Hoess with 55.
