AMA Releases U.S. Flat Track Schedule

| December 9, 2003
AMA Pro Racing has announced a tentative 25-race schedule for the 2001 AMA/Progressive Insurance U.S. Flat Track Championships.

The season kicks-off once again at Municipal Stadium in Daytona Beach on March 10 and will include double rounds at the Springfield Mile, Hagerstown Speedway and the “Magic Mile” in Du Quoin, Illinois. The recent improvements to the “Magic Mile” have the riders and fans alike excited about the first race “under the lights” on July 7 and again at the season finale Sept. 29.

Returning to the schedule are two tracks which hosted inaugural rounds last season: Lowe’s Motor Speedway in Charlotte, North Carolina, on July 28, and Vernon Downs, New York, on September 8. Lowe’s has the distinction of being in the heart of NASCAR country, Vernon Downs features a hotel off of turn four, which, if you get a room on the track side of the hotel, allows you to catch the racing action. The hotel also features a closed-circuit television system.
