Brian Brown Wins National Hare & Hound in Nevada

| September 8, 2003

Kawasaki-mounted Brian Brown won round five of the AMA National Championship Hare & Hound Series in Wells, Nevada, September 7. Brown got the holeshot but was passed by David Pearson shortly thereafter. Pearson maintained the lead until late in the second loop when he retired due to a mechanical failure.

Despite a hard charge by fellow Kawasaki rider, Destry Abbott, Brown hung on for the win, finishing less than 30 seconds ahead of his Team Green teammate. The two KX500s were followed across the line by Yamaha YZ450F-mounted Russ Pearson and Kendall Norman aboard a Honda CR125. Taber Murphy rounded out the top five on an XR650 Honda.

A win in Wells would have wrapped the Championship for Russ Pearson. Now the title chase will go down to the next and final round on October 19 in Winnemucca, Nevada.
