The following release is from AMA Pro Racing…

Ron Helms, the promoter of the Hall of Fame AMA Flat Track race scheduled for August 2, 2003 at the Oak Ridge Race Course in Arrington, Virginia, has informed AMA Pro Racing that “due to circumstances beyond their control” it will not be able to hold the race as scheduled. Consequently, the event has been cancelled. It is not yet clear whether or not this event will be rescheduled.

AMA Pro Racing Flat Track Manager Bruce Bober expressed frustration over the situation.

“To learn of the cancellation at such a late date makes it very difficult for teams and riders,” said Bober. “Everyone, including Ron Helms with Helms Promotions, has worked extremely hard to prepare for this event and it’s a real disappointment to remove it from the schedule.”

Helms, is equally frustrated over the cancellation.

Entry fees for this event will be refunded. For details contact Patti Bourne at AMA Pro Racing, 614/856-1900, ext. 1233. Helms Promotions has credited and mailed receipts for all pre-sales.

The next event on the schedule is the Hagerstown, Maryland, half-mile scheduled for August 9.
