Woodford Tops Ohio GNCC/Hare Scrambles

Kawasaki Team Green’s Chuck Woodford (pictured) just keeps on winning. His latest success came at the combined Grand National Cross Country and AMA National Hare Scrambles round in Millfield, Ohio, yesterday. It was his sixth major off-road win in the past few months.

Woodford pretty much led from start to finish, leading a trio of Suzuki riders across the finish line. Defending champ Rodney Smith took second, followed by teammates Mike Kiedrowski and Steve Hatch. Kawasaki rider Fred Andrews rounded out the top five overall.

Series leader Jason Raines competed and finished 18th overall. The Yamaha rider broke his leg at the previous round and took it easy in Ohio, but he still earned five points and will have another two weeks to heal before the next race.

KTM’s Mike Lafferty, however, was unable to compete, as he still heals from a broken shoulder. Lafferty held second place before the Ohio race.

Raines still sits on top of the GNCC point standings, but his lead has be cut to just 10 points over Smith, 202-192. Lafferty is now third with 191, while Kiedrowski is fourth with 175.
