The 2002 Crossover Challenge Presented by American Suzuki Motor Corporation will make its fourth-annual appearance at the opening round of EA Sports Supercross at Edison International Field in Anaheim, California.
Featuring several top athletes and celebrities, the race will include 24 riders, paired in teams of three, with identically prepared RM125 motorcycles along with individual mechanics. Last year, Suzuki took on the presenting-level sponsorship and crowned its first team of Crossover Challenge champions: Tex Devenport (snowboarder), Kevin Barda (marathon runner), and Brian Lopes (mountain biker). Following the event, the bikes were autographed and sold at Chaparral Motor Sports, which had provided the bikes.
“The 2002 Crossover Challenge gives us an opportunity to showcase our award-winning RM125s, and we’re proud to be a part of this exciting event,” said Mel Harris, Vice President of American Suzuki Motor Corporation.
Last year’s Crossover Challenge featured a host of extreme athletes and celebrities, including Vanilla Ice (musician), Mark-Paul Gosselaar (actor), Fuzzy Hall (BMX), Sunny Garcia (surfer), and Mike James (St. Louis Cardinals). Each of the 24 riders competed aboard Suzuki motorcycles, which allowed participants the luxury of being “factory” for a day.
