Baja 2000 Update

Although the race is far from over, many class winners have been unofficially announced at the Tecate SCORE Baja 2000. As previously reported, the Johnny Campbell (Hon) team took the overall and Class 22 (Open) win, followed by the Bruce Ogilvie (Hon) team and the top four-wheel vehicle driven by Dan Smith. The Campbell team finished the race in 30 hours, 58 minutes, with the Ogilvie team finishing with a time of 32:04:30. Smith crossed the finish line in 32:15:35.

The next motorcycle to finish was the Tex Mitchel entry. The Mitchel team took top honors in Class 30, finishing eighth overall with a time of 33:38:40. Ninth overall and third in Class 22 was the Philip Zieger team, stopping the clock at 33:43:30. Finishing 10th overall and second place in Class 30 was the Ricardo Malo entry. Their time was 33:43:40.

The Chris Haines/Kevin Hines entry took top honors in Class 40, finishing 11th overall with a time of 34:47:50. The next motorcycle across the finish line was the Lucas Lundin entry, finishing third in Class 30, with a time of 35:23:20.

The first 250cc (Class 21) machine to take the checkered flag was the Juan David Ruvalcaba team in 27th overall (39:07:00). Finishing 30th overall and taking the Sportsman Open Motorcycle class win was the Geoff Sanborn entry (40:10:01). The Richard Jackson bike scored the win in Class 50, finishing 34th overall (40:24:02).

Topping Class 20 (125cc) was the Enrique Felix team, finishing 85th overall (48:21:31).
