Nevada 2000 Update

Scoring delays prevented anything but unofficial results after yesterday and today, but Team Green’s Destry Abbott and Brian Brown continued their dominance of the Nevada 2000 by winning the third day’s 278-mile run today from Ely to Elko on their KX500.

American Honda’s Johnny Campbell and Tim Staab remained in second place on their XR650R with fellow Honda Off-Road Team members Steve Hengeveld and Jonah Street third on their 650.

Mike Healey and Scott Morris reportedly suffered a broken gearbox on their Price Racing KX500 today to drop from yesterday’s fifth overall and second Over 30 Pro team. That leaves the Sportsman Cycle KTM 300 duo of Rick Bozarth and Daryl Folks – fourth yesterday – with a slightly more comfortable lead in the class.

A fire yesterday near pit two in Caliente forced officials to delay and reroute the race, though that affected only the last half of the trucks and buggies.

Tomorrow’s course takes competitors from Elko to Reno, as the race begins its last half.
