It’s a Wash

| July 29, 2000
The AMA/Progressive Insurance U.S. Flat Track Championships round scheduled for Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio, on July 29 was rained out, with the teams packing up and heading for home, as the forecast favored even more rain on the following day. The event may be rescheduled.

The rainout could mean that the AMA Series will be on hiatus until the Peoria TT, as rumors were strong that the I-96 Half Mile in Lake Odessa, Michigan, which was scheduled for the following weekend, has also been cancelled. We will attempt to confirm this and report later.

Food for thought: If the Lake Odessa round is cancelled, then AMA Grand National Championship hopeful Will Davis will have witnessed somewhat of a reversal of his bad off-track luck. The North Carolinan had stated that he would attempt to return from his much-publicized softball game injuries at Lake Odessa. A cancellation will give Davis even more chance to prepare, and he will have only lost seven points to defending AMA Grand National Champion and current series points leader Chris Carr.
