Carmichael/Roncada Double Up

Cycle News Staff | June 18, 2000

Team Chevy Trucks/Kawasaki’s Ricky Carmichael and Team Yamaha of Troy’s Stephane Roncada each posted a pair of moto wins and took over the series points lead in their respective classes at the Budds Creek, Maryland, round of the AMA/Chevy Trucks National Motocross Series earlier today. Roncada’s win put to an end the three-moto win streak of Travis Pastrana, though the Team Suzuki rider did manage a pair of runner-up finishes for second overall. Placing a strong third was FMF/Honda’s Brock Sellards, last year’s runner-up finisher in the series.

In the quarter-liter ranks, Carmichael’s moto-one victory came over Team Suzuki’s Greg Albertyn (the defending champ), while moto two saw Frenchman Sebastein Tortelli give Carmichael a run for his money. The Team Honda rider also rode well last week at the Southwick, Massachusetts, round.
