PACE Drops Wrenchead.com Syracuse Mile

PACE Motor Sports announced that it has removed the Syracuse Mile, scheduled for June 3, from the Formula USA/Wrenchead.com National Dirt Track Series calendar. The event was added to the schedule only a few weeks ago. Roy Janson, Vice President of Operations for PACE, offered an explanation for the change.

“Rider safety is our number one priority,” Janson said. “In light of a variety of concerns regarding track conditions and lighting at the mile in Syracuse, along with the fact that the track has not hosted an event of this kind since 1993, we felt it was in our, and most importantly in the riders’ best interests, to drop the Syracuse event from the schedule until all of the concerns at the track are addressed and rectified.”

The next round of the series, the Oklahoma City Half Mile scheduled for July 15, is being billed as round three of the series, although no National Championship points were paid out at round two in Indianapolis after the main event was halted. The Syracuse cancellation drops the series to 10 rounds, although additional events may be announced yet this season.
