Saddlemen/Lancaster Harley-Davidson/Montgomeryville Cycle’s Jared Mees scored his first career AMA Grand National victory the old fashioned way, he earned it.
During round six of the AMA Ford Quality Checked Flat Track Series at the Allen County Fairgrounds in Lima, Ohio, last night, the 19-year-old Pennsylvanian got off the line third in the 25-lap main event, but he soon settled into a pace that would take him away from Dominic Beaulac, past Kenny Coolbeth and early race leader and two-time defending event champion Joe Kopp. Mees passed Kopp for the lead on lap 12 and was never challenged after that. Kopp held on for second, with Coolbeth third.
Defending series champion Chris Carr also passed Beaulac to take the fourth spot, with Beaulac fifth, ahead of JR Schnabel, Jake Johnson, Geo Roeder II, Johnny Murphree and Bryan Smith.
