AMA Pro Racing announced its 2011 AMA Pro Flat Track Grand National Championship schedule today, a series that will feature 22 races at 17 venues - an increase over last year. And the return of the Sacramento Mile, an addition that is sure to bring a smile to Northern California dirt track fans.

In addition to offering more races, there are also some new venues and also a few former events that are back on the schedule.

The season will open as always at Daytona with the series starter getting moved from its normal Wednesday, Thursday nights to Thursday and Friday nights, March 10-11.

The only indoor race on the schedule follows Daytona - a race inside the Southern Illinois Complex on April 2. Then the series heads to Salinas, California for a TT at the Salinas Sports Complex on April 2. The first of the miles will take place at Yavapai Downs in Prescott, Arizona, on May 1.

In addition to the Southern Illinois Complex and the Salinas Sports Complex, there is also a first-time event slated for the Hartford Motor Speedway in Hartford, Minnesota.

In addition to the return of the famous Sacramento Mile, the series also heads to the Castle Rock TT - once an institution in the series.

"The expansion of the series is exciting news for our fans, riders and sponsors," said Gary Kidd, Flat Track Manager of AMA Pro Racing, in a release. "We continue to work hard to showcase America's traditional form of motorcycle racing in various parts of the country.
