SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (Sept. 1, 2012) -- The remnants of Hurricane Isaac have delayed the start of the AMA Pro Flat Track doubleheader in Springfield, Illinois. The Short Track National scheduled for tonight will be postponed to Sunday with opening ceremonies now slated to start at 5:00 p.m.

The Multi-Purpose Arena Short Track was saturated already from heavy rains Friday. A few brief showers hampered progress on the track Saturday morning, but then at about 2:30 p.m. a heavier shower moved over the Illinois State Fairgrounds and tornado warnings were issued in the area, forcing AMA Pro Racing and IMDA officials to pull the plug on today's program.

The racing surface on the Springfield Mile is too saturated to attempt to run tomorrow, so the Mile has been rescheduled to start at noon on Monday according to IMDA officials.
