Chad Reed finally shed the poor luck that he has been experiencing lately by claiming the win on a very soft and rutted track at the 12th round of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross race at Toronto’s Rogers Centre, tonight.

During his heat race, however, things didn’t go too well for the Team San Manuel Yamaha rider, as he crashed out of the lead on the second lap and was forced to work his way through the pack just to qualify for the main.

Reed turned it all around in the main, though, by grabbing the holeshot and pulling away to a commanding lead, and eventually the win.

Josh Hill looked as though he might challenge Reed early, but two crashes on the opening lap, when the Yamaha rider slid out on exposed concrete, dropped him to the rear of the pack.

With Hill out of the way, Honda riders Davi Millsaps and Kevin Windham took up the battle for the runner-up position. However, Millsaps went down on the second lap and allowed Windham to have the number-two position. Then Windham crashed on lap seven and gave the spot back to Millsaps. Finally, on lap 15 Windham re-passed Millsaps for second place.

Honda’s Andrew Short rode a steady race to finish fourth, while Hill worked his way through the pack to finish fifth.

"I think this year we have been saying that each race gets tougher and tougher," said Reed. "I didn’t want to crash in the main like I have in the last few races and the track had a lot of ruts and you had to be smart."

KTM’s Nick Wey returned to form to take sixth, with Tim Ferry taking seventh in his first ride back since crashing before the Indy race.
